It’s almost an entire year since Safe Journey terrorism travel insurance was launched, and we’re still providing the same comprehensive cover from only £4.96 per person for a single trip of up to 8 days…
That’s less than the cost of a drink or two, but it could save you thousands of pounds and add infinite peace of mind the next time you book a trip!
Safe Journey fills the gap in your travel insurance and gives you the freedom to choose if your destination is affected by terrorism.
What exactly does Safe Journey cover? Here’s a reminder…
- Disinclination to travel
Cancellation cover, or disinclination to travel, applies if an act of terrorism takes place within a 40-mile radius of your booked route or accommodation, up to 6 weeks prior to your departure.
Fact: No other UK policy covers disinclination due to an act of terrorism!
We’ll cover up to £2000 per person (with £100 policy excess) - as long as you purchased the policy before the act of terrorism happened, of course.
Curtailment is also covered – if you’re already travelling and there’s a terrorist attack within 40 miles of your accommodation, Safe Journey can refund the unused portion of your trip. If you’re staying within 1 mile of the attack, we’ll also provide emergency temporary accommodation (see below).
Cancellation cover has enabled policy holders to cancel trips they had booked and paid for - e.g. to Berlin and Turkey - following acts of terrorism. They were able to reclaim their hard-earned money and spend it on a destination where they felt safer.
- Delays: £20 per 8-hour period, up to a total of £200 per person
Travel delays can be expensive, and as we have seen, airports and other travel centres can be severely affected.
- The things we don’t want to think about
Death: £25 000
Permanent total disablement: £100 000
Funeral expenses: £3 500
- If you’re injured by an act of terrorism
The likelihood of being indirectly affected by terrorism is far higher than that of being injured or killed, but Safe Journey provides cover for travellers directly affected too.
Emergency medical expenses: £1 000 000
Evacuation and emergency temporary accommodation: £1 000
Medical repatriation: £50 000
- Personal effects
If your possessions are damaged, lost or stolen due to an act of terrorism
Valuables: Up to £250 per item – up to a total of £1 500
Cash: £200 (£75 if under 18)
Luggage delay: £200
These items have a policy excess of £75, except for luggage delay, which has no policy excess.
- Withdrawal of services
If you have booked a tour or activity, for example, which can no longer operate due to an act of terrorism, Safe Journey provides cover up to £200
We have to ask… can you afford not to spend less than £5 per person (based on a single trip of up to 8 days) to top up your travel insurance?

Please note that the above information is a summary, but you’ll find the full details of cover, along with terms, conditions and exclusions in our Policy Wording.
