The FCO no longer advise against travel to the Danakil desert area, north of the Mille-Djibouti and Mille-Chifra roads, and east of the towns of Bere-Ale, Shehet, Didigsala and Chifra; if you are planning to travel there, you should travel as part of an organised group and be aware of the risk of excessive heat and the difficult terrain in some areas, notably around the volcano of Erta Ale; facilities are basic in Danakil; there’s no running water and medical facilities are limited

Remember that this information is subject to change at any time.

There have been notifications for dozens of destinations indicating that there has been a change in the way the threat of terrorism is evaluated by the UK Government, but that the assessment of those countries' threat levels has not changed. We will update the list with any that do change, but you should also check FCO advice for your specific destination - before you book and before you travel.
