Travel Safety Round-Up: 17/12/2019

Christmas is almost here and so many Brits are ready for a good holiday! At this busy time of year it’s more important than ever to have all the relevant information about your trip, and updates the UK Foreign and Commonwealth (FCO) are one of the best sources of that info! Here’s our summary of their recent notifications for dozens of destinations – including Belgium, Netherlands, France, Philippines, Australia, New Zealand, and Solomon Islands.

Liberia

Health section and Summary – updated infomation on Lassa fever; addition of information and advice on a protest in Monrovia on 30 December.

Mozambique

Terrorism section and summary – editorial amendments to existing information about risk of kidnap, which is particularly acute in northern districts of Cabo Delgado province.

Change to advice against travel; the FCO now advise against all but essential travel on the EN1 between Inchope and the town of Gorongoza and the EN6 between Tica and Inchope.

Philippines

11pm (PHT) on 15 December, a Magnitude 6.9 earthquake occurred in Davao Del Sur province. A number of aftershocks have been reported.

Transportation throughout the area may be disrupted. If you’re in Davao Del Sur, or are planning to travel to the area, you should be careful of aftershocks, monitor local media for up-to-date information and follow the advice of local authorities.

You should check with transportation companies for any changes or cancellations of schedule.
