Summary and Safety & security section - robberies by people posing as taxi drivers or taxi customers are increasingly common in Kinshasa, and are often accompanied by a threat of violence; you should avoid using any taxis in the Democratic Republic of the Congo; if you must take a taxi, use a privately booked one; don’t hail taxis on the street.

Following the Lebanese Army’s operation on 30 June 2017 in a refugee settlement in Arsal in north eastern Lebanon, where 5 attackers exploded suicide belts, the Lebanese security agencies are conducting follow up investigations; you should be particularly vigilant and alert at this time, monitor local media and follow the advice of the security agencies.

The Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) advise against all travel to the Boko, Kindamba, Kinkala, Mayama and Mindouli districts of Pool region, the Mouyondzi district of Bouenza region and within 50km of the border with the Central African Republic in Likouala region; the FCO advise against all but essential travel to the Ngabe district of Pool region and to Brazzaville region (except for the city of Brazzaville)

A curfew is in place in Mandera County for the hours 6:30pm to 6:30am;
Terrorism section – on 5 July 2017 a police station in Pandanguo, Lamu County was attacked by an armed group.

There are reports that several towns in South Kivu province of eastern DRC, including Fizi, are being attacked by or have come under the control of armed groups; the Foreign and Commonwealth Office continue to advise against all travel to the provinces of South Kivu, North Kivu, Maniema and several other provinces in Eastern DRC, and against all but essential travel to the cities of Goma and Bukavu.
