The holiday season is almost here and most major cities and holiday destinations will be stepping up their security to prevent crime and acts of terrorism.
When streets and shops are crowded, it's more important than ever to be alert and prepared for safer journeys, wherever you go.
New Orleans, USA
Police have reported that one person was killed and nine injured in a shooting in the early hours of Sunday morning, Two men have been arrested in connection with the attack and are being questioned, but no motive has been determined so far.
Bourbon Street is an extremely busy and popular area in the historic French Quarter of New Orleans and is frequented by tourists and locals. There is likely to be increased security in the area, and anyone visiting should follow any instructions given by police.
Panama, Nicaragua and Costa Rica were hit by a hurricane last week, which has since been re-classified as a tropical storm.
The BBC has reported four deaths in Panama and at least nine in Costa Rica as a result of the hurricane, and several small towns have been covered by water and mud, with smaller bridges collapsing.
If you are travelling anywhere in the region, weather and transport may be affected so check weather reports and local news regularly. Remember that natural disasters, like terrorism may be excluded from many travel insurance policies, so read your policy wording to be sure.
More than 100 000 people were evacuated as wildfires spread through central and northern Israel over 5 days last week.
Most people who were evacuated from their homes in Haifa have now been able to return and the fires have been extinguished, but firefighters remain on high alert.
The original fires are believed to have been started deliberately, and up to 30 people have been detained on suspicion of arson.
Four small explosions took place in Burma on 24 November, outside the Rangoon immigration office. Authorities are investigating the incident.
Also on 24 November, a bomb exploded near the Governor's office in Adana. No injuries were reported. The FCO recommends vigilance if you're travelling in the area.
A strike will be taking place today in Kerala, and will include road closures. Shops and services are also expected to shut down.
Cases of scrub typhus have been reported in Nepal. If you're planning to travel there, check with your tour provider and seek medical attention immediately if you feel unwell.
Shooting and fighting took place at the University of Jordan on 24 November. The FCO recommends following the instructions of local security if you are in the area.
Immigration controls may temporarily be in place at some road and rail border crossing points with Germany, Hungary, and Slovenia. Carry your passport with you when crossing the border into, or from Austria.
