Euro 2016 is almost here! It promises to be an exciting tournament, however as you’re probably aware, a threat of terrorism exists and there’s going to be a lot of additional security.
Make your trip safer and more enjoyable
Any time there’s a high security risk, it’s very important to keep your eyes open and report any suspicious items.
Pay attention to the layout of venues, know where the exits are, and always follow the instructions of authorities present.
As mentioned above, extensive security measures are in place. A good example is the arrest made on 7 June at the Ukraine border – long before there was any chance of the suspect entering France.
If any sort of incident does occur, do not wait to find out what has happened – get to the exits and keep moving. And please don’t stop to take photos!
Please take note of the FCO’s security warnings and safety advice to make your trip as safe and enjoyable as possible. You can read the full “Be on the Ball” guide here.
Peace of Mind
France is so close by that many people don’t think they need travel insurance… We don’t want to alarm you, but this is simply not true. Events with large crowds and a fair amount (!) of alcohol are the places you need travel insurance the most because accidents, pickpocketing, and many other risks tend to become more likely.
If you have booked your trip but have not yet departed, you can still buy the travel insurance that you need for both general travel and - in case of terrorism - Safe Journey. Contact OneStop4 today or call 0800 848 8448 and we’ll help with both policies in one easy call.
Need an upgrade?
If you already have travel insurance, please note that most policies limit or exclude cover for acts of terrorism so check your Policy Wording.
You can fill the gaps with Safe Journey’s specialist terrorism travel insurance policy. It includes cancellation if an act of terrorism takes place within 40 miles of your booked accommodation (if your scheduled trip is up to 6 weeks after the attack) or curtailment if terrorism takes place when you’re already there, as well as delays, loss of personal property, emergency medical care, and more. Please check Safe Journey Policy Wording for full details of terms, conditions, complaints procedures and exclusions.
Please note that Safe Journey covers acts of terrorism only and does not provide full travel insurance cover. It costs less than £5 to add though, for a single trip of up to 8 days – that’s about the cost of 3 beers! So make Euro 2016 a low-worry zone and enjoy every minute of it.
