Travel Safety Round-Up: 6/9/2017

Constraints on travel within Eritrea means the British embassy in Asmara is unable to offer consular assistance to British nationals outside Asmara; Entry requirements section (Visas & Foreign currency) – visa applications can take a significant amount of time to process, so you should plan well ahead; you should be aware that you won’t be permitted to take more than 500 nafka (ERN) out of Eritrea.

Zimbabwe

Entry requirements section (Emergency travel documents) – it may be necessary to produce a police report if your passport has been lost or stolen and you have been issued with an ETD as immigration officials want to see evidence of entry stamps on departure.

Money section – it’s illegal to leave Zimbabwe with more than $2,000 (or equivalent) in cash.

Tropical Storm Harvey continues to affect parts of the southern USA from Texas to Louisiana. Houston airports have resumed limited domestic passenger service, with a full service expected to resume over the weekend of 2/3 September. You should check with your airline before travelling. A curfew is in place in Houston between midnight and 5am until further notice while rescue and rehabilitation efforts continue.
